This is the 5th year of the highly acclaimed AFA (Adventure Film Academy) (formally the Extreme Film School) and a chance to work with some of the top professionals in adventure film making who have worked on many BAFTA and EMMY winning films including Touching the Void.

In the past over 400 people have attended the workshops and 125 made a 2 minute short film. These “shorts” have been shown to huge audiences, such as “Not Permitted” on prime time BBC1, Festivals all over the world including Banff, Telluride and Trento e.g. the ’06 winner Kendal’s Dark Secret”, and on a variety of web sites such a U Tube where “No Cycling” has received 678,000 views !

The Academy attracts a wide range of talent:

  • film industry professionals wanting to exercise their skills and learn more about adventure film making
      
  • film students who want to learn new skills.

  • adventurers, mountaineers and extreme sports enthusiasts who want to learn how to record their exploits and make a broadcast quality films

18% of those who have made a film short in AFA now work within the film industry.

Choose individual modules or sign up for the whole week.  The program comprises a choice of 4 workshops on film making and editing followed by the 48 Hour film marathon during the Festival week
